Eek!

Local folks: BPALage

Hey, [info]annamatic, and anyone else local.

Anyone want to do a spontaneous BPAL meet and sniff? I've got stuff I'd like to get rid of to good homes, including a shit ton of imps that no longer have labels on them that I can no longer identify. I figured I'd offer the stuff to anyone local first, since it's been a long time since we had a mutual enabling session, plus hey, less for me to pack up and ship to other people. Also, I'm home every day but Tuesday this week so the timing is perfect. Let me know if anyone's interested!

Random non-book related niftiness

Well, thank the old ones in the Deep, I am officially enrolled in classes for the spring. For those of you keeping track at home, I will be taking the following.

  • International Relations (or, as I like to call it, why we shouldn't bomb Canada).
  • World Religions (or, as I like to call it, HAIL XENU!)
  • Comp II (or, as I like to call it, what I will take before I voluntarily enroll in a literary criticism class, which sounds like more fun than it should.)
Intro to Women's Studies (or, as I like to call it, Fuck the Patriarchy! )

The Women's Studies class is a night class, which means I am going to come to hate Wednesdays. But my sister is taking the class with me, which is the only reason I would put myself through nearly a 12-hour day on campus once a week.

In other news, I got some compliments on my perfume. I was wearing BPAL's Rose Red. Which is officially my new favorite BPAL scent, up until the ones I bought yesterday off the secondary market come in

And that's pretty much all from the non-literary life. I'll have a book review up shortly, and I am considering the benefits to trying to go to bed before ohmygod-it's-late-thirty this morning.

Also, for whatever reason, I love listening to Josh Groban singing "Ave Maria." I know this makes me the biggest dork that ever came out of Dorkville, but it's a lovely arrangement, and I am a sucker the faux-classical thing he's got going on here.

Perfume

After only putting it off about six months or so, I finally placed an order with Nocturne Alchemy. I went with a theme, since I ordered Hatshepsut and Nefertari. Someone sent me a sample of the former, and I love the way it smells on me, plus it lasts forever.

I blame [info]atalantapendrag entirely for this. Also, I blame whichever lovely person sent me the imp of Hatshepsut in a recent sale. It does wonderful things on my skin, and is a great floral but not cloying scent.

In the meantime, I've spent way too much money. I bought some BPal yule scents, and one of my roommates wants me to buy her two bottles based on sniffing some of my imps. I'll probably take the opportunity to snag the other two Yule scents I want, and might post an offer to add other people's stuff to my order so that we can get free shipping. But that won't be for a while yet.

Squee!

I just noticed the new BPal update. Yeah, yeah, it's been out for two weeks. I am slow.

Anyway, the Yule scents are going to kill me. I identified at least five that I must have. Right now.

Self-restraint, Shannon. Self-restraint.

Evening thoughts

Had a blast hanging out with [info]annamatic tonight. We seriously need to do that again. We swapped a couple of things, and now I am considering whether I want to buy anything from BPAL what with there being a new update. The Sportive Sun seems promising, but the only note it has that I'm familliar with is cedar, which I love. Also, my friend [info]spellchaser83 and I just had the following conversation.

Me: "I'm considering blowing more money on BPAl."

Her: "Cool. Order me something. I'll give you $$."

Me: "... Hoookay. What do you want."

Her: "I dunno."

I love enabling people. With this setup, I am bound to get her something she'll hate.

Ooh, BPAL meme

Yes, yes, I know I am totally Spammy McSpammerson today. No doubt this will pass once I get bored.

Random post

Well, I woke up around 11:30 and laid in bed for an hour. This bodes very well for tomorrow, when I have to be up and coherent *well* before 11:30 in the morning. I predict not being able to sleep at all tonight yay me!

Also, BPAL meetup tomorrow for those local folks. It's at Aimee's Coffee Shop, at 1025 Massachusetts, at 7:00. I will be there with my box o' imps and a tupperware container I will steal from teh roommates for my bottles because I need to figure out a better storage place for them than the inside of my desk.

That said, is anybody actually planning to be there? And I still need to beg someone for a ride home.

Well, I am off to have a fascinating day of... reading LJ and catching up on finishing a few of the books I have started but not finished. Because that's the kind of excitement that happens around here!

Oh, BPAL

The limited edition scents BPAL has out this month all sort of strike me as a bit meh, but they've commemorated Allison Gross, which, at least the version I've got that Malinky sings, is one of my favorite traditional ballads.

I just haven't decided if my love for the balad translates to a real burning need to buy the perfume.

BPAL sale time

ETA: I think I'm going to move my sales over to one of the BPAL-related communities now anyway, because I need the cash.

I need to create room in my budget for, well, actually buying more BPAL. If anybody wants any of this stuff, I'll leave this post up for a couple of days before I link to it in BPAL-related communities.

I'd prefer to ship to the U.S. only, if possible. I can deal with all forms of paypal. I'm also sorry I can't tell you much about label condition. Mainly I'm just charging what I paid in the case of the bottles and I just figured I'd charge a uniform amount for the decants, which have all only been tested once or twice by me.
Also, shipping will be $2.50, which seems to be about the standard rate these days.

A couple of bottles and lots of decants )

BPAL thingy

...Went very well. We had a nice crowd, although the next time we have a meetup I'm going to have to beg someone who's planning to come to give me a ride, since the only people for whom it didn't go well were my sister and her roommate, who weren't at all interested. Which, I have to tell myself, isn't my problem. Imps were exchanged, and I have lots of goodies I haven't labeled yet so I can't tell you what they were, hehe.

In attendance were [info]annamatic, [info]rewil, [info]auroraceleste and [info]starstraf, all of whom are very neat ladies with whom I should hang out more often.
